Filming: Day 1 - Yoli's House

Location: Yoli's House

On the first day of filming, I couldn't attend as I was away in Scotland. Yoli and I discussed beforehand the shots we wanted to achieve and the general theme we wanted to try and capture. Though I was away for a week, we had to film it during this slot as our cast member, Isabel, was only available at this time.

After having filmed, Yoli sent some of the footage to me and spoke about what went well and the problems she came across whilst filming.

We wanted a clip of our younger cast members cloud watching, however, it had rained and the ground wouldn't have been particularly nice to lie upon. In order to ensure the comfort and health of our actors, Yoli tucked clear plastic bags beneath them, in such a way that they couldn't be seen on camera.

Working with children can sometimes be tricky - though our pair were well behaved and enthusiastic, when Yoli asked for them to draw themselves in the future and different locations that occur in our song, she ended up with pictures that were an explosion of colour and imagination (in some cases so far off of the mark of what we had in mind, we aren't sure if they're usable).

Due to being a crew member down, Yoli filled my place by asking her mum to assist in filming with her.

One thing that worked efficiently was the fact Yoli had written a list of things she wanted to film before this day commenced. It meant that our first filming day ran smoothly and quickly, and constantly kept our young cast members' attention. Yoli was filled with compliments for how well Finlay and Isabel worked together.

Yoli was also particularly happy with the range of angles she achieved on this day, especially with the different perspectives of the same scene.
